Training and Updates

We provide training/updates on key topics via the Health Promotion Service Training programme. These are available to all in Primary Care and are free of charge.

Topics include: -

  • Diet and CHD Prevention
  • Effective Weight Management
  • Diabetes Care
  • Weaning
  • Tackling Nutritional Problems in Children
  • Food & Nutrition for Community Workers

Dietitians can also provide in-service training for groups, including GPs, Learning Disabilities Staff, Health Visitors, Community Nurses, Nursing and Family Centre Workers, Chefs and Caterers.

Community Nutrition Service

Dietitians work with Community Groups and local Health Workers to develop effective ways of helping people eat well.

Supporting resources are available for loan from Health Promotion Resource Centre (Tel: 01274 223900), e.g. Nutrition Activities for Small Groups 'Asian Weaning Cook and Eat' pack and kit.

and..... ' Good Nosh/Less Dosh' -a guide and resource for 'Cook and Eat' activities for Community Groups.

Other projects we have been involved in include: -

  • Development of Community Screening Tool for malnutrition
  • Provision of evidence-based nutrition information to improve local Policy/Guideline development e.g. Wound Care PACE Guidelines
  • Supporting initiatives that are tackling Food Poverty, access and availability e.g. FLINT, Heartsmart, Food Work and Bradford Food Network
