"I am delighted to learn that your organisation has achieved the Charter Mark Standard for excellence in customer service delivery," wrote Mr Blair. "Please pass on my congratulations to everyone involved - this is not a standard that is easily acheived and is a tribute to your organisation.

"Your achievement clearly demonstrates that customers' needs and aspirations genuinely form that basis for the design and delivery of the services you provide. This is something that is crucial for the improvements we all want to see in public services. I wish you every success in continuing the good work with which you are engaged."

The physiotherapy department is one of the busiest in the north of England, caring for 34,000 new patients over the last year.

Director of Hospital Services, Rose Stephens, and Operations Director for Rehabilitation, Val Steele, recently presented the staff with their certificates.

The Charter Mark report commended the way in which the service had responded to the demands of the criteria and indicated the Bradford's performance was strong.

The team had to demonstrate that they fulfilled up to 63 criteria for putting customer needs at the centre of service delivery.

"This is a tremendous recognition for the hard work of staff," said Jill. "But it is now important that we continue to improve for the benefits of our patients and community."
