About Our Services

The Psychology team for pain patients is part of the multi-disciplinary Chronic Pain Rehabilitation service. Chronic pain frequently leads to anxiety, depression and other problems adjusting to the limitations experienced. We work closely with other professionals in order to provide holistic patient care.

We participate in the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Programme by taking part in multi-disciplinary assessment of patients and providing sessions on the programme about the psychological impact of chronic pain and how to manage this.

Patients where the psychological impact of their pain is the main problem may be seen for individual psychological therapy.

The team includes Clinical Psychologists and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who all have experience of working with patients with physical health problems.

Referrals

Outpatients may be referred by a GP or hospital Consultant. When it is not clear that individual psychological therapy is required, a referral for multi-disciplinary assessment by the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Service is appropriate. Referrals are also accepted for inpatients with complex chronic pain problems.
