Within the ICU or on the general wards
Follow up services for patients post-ICU in conjunction with the ICU Outreach Team
Referral Criteria
The following symptoms following an ICU admission - Low mood, anxiety, fear or panic states. hallucinations, delusional experiences on ICU, bereavement, amnesia/fragmented memories
Referral Pathway
Inpatient referrals and referrals for relatives are accepted from ICU staff and hospital consultants. Outpatient referrals can be accepted from GPs
Additional Information
All patients will be assessed as to the nature of the psychological problem and the need for intervention. Specific interventions will be tailored to the needs of the person. Examples of interventions include: debriefing, Cognitive Behavoural Therapy, depression, PTSD, grief and loss issues
